Avery Dennison (Painesville, OH) announced new electrode fixing tapes for use in the assembly of electric vehicle batteries. The new product is the latest addition to the company’s portfolio of functional bonding and protection tapes engineered to make EV batteries safer, more efficient and easier to assemble.

Electrode fixing tapes are a specialized adhesive tape used to bind multilayer electrode constructions consisting of current collector foils, anode and cathode material and separator films in EV battery cells. The electrode fixing tapes are available with polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polypropylene (PP) plastic facestocks. The PP facestock is chemically inert to prevent self-discharge due to DMT redox shuttle.

The electrode fixing tapes feature:

  • Electrolyte-compatible acrylic adhesives
  • Highly visible green color
  • Self-wound, liner-less construction with various widths available on plastic cores
