Appleton (Rosemont, IL), an Emerson company, recently announced the ASR Nonmetallic Interlocked Receptacle with Enclosed Disconnect Switch, a 600 VAC power connection platform engineered to eliminate load-switching risk, maximize mounting flexibility and perform flawlessly in hose-down areas, damp or corrosive locations, and raintight or watertight non-hazardous applications.
Features include:
- The plug cannot be inserted or withdrawn under load—a mechanical interlock physically secures the plug until the disconnect switch is actuated, thereby preventing arc-flash events, motor damage and OSHA violations at the source.
- A dead-front design ensures the receptacle remains de-energized until the plug is fully seated and the switch engaged.
- The ASR switch has self-cleaning contacts, driven by a solid bridge bar, which eliminates single-phase motor events.
- For lockout/tagout protocols, the switch locks in the OFF position in full compliance with OSHA Regulation 1910.147.
- The enclosure is manufactured from VALOX thermoplastic polyester, which is UV-stabilized and corrosion-resistant, and sealed with a seamless form-in-place gasket.
- Stainless steel hardware.
- IP66 rated and meets the UL04–5V plastics flammability safety standard.
