Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (Ansan-si, South Korea) introduced its high voltage opto-semiconductor technology for hybrid and electric vehicles. The technology is designed for 12V single-chip operation with high-voltage driver systems.
The technology provides a conversion solution for 300V high-voltage battery networks using a Multi-Junction P-N structure standard.
Seoul Semiconductor stated that it has entered mass production with four automotive brands across the Americas, Europe and Asia, with plans to expand supply to 10 models by the end of the year.
Features:
- Utilizes micro-scaled opto-semiconductor chips capable of direct high-voltage operation
- Minimizes conversion losses by reducing voltage step-down conversion
- Lowers driver-related component count by more than 10%
- Reduces driver costs by 20% and power consumption by 10%, compared to conventional 3V LEDs
- Minimizes need for complex, multi-stage conversion circuitry
- Backed by portfolio of hundreds of high-voltage opto-semiconductor chip patents and more than 50 HV driver patents
