Rockwool North America recently broke ground on a stone wool manufacturing facility in Walla Walla County, Washington, the Ontario-based company's fifth factory in North America and its first in the western U.S.
Located on 250 acres in the Wallula Gap Business Park, Rockwool said the $175 million project would support 125 jobs and increase production capacity to meet growing demand for insulation products in the region.
The facility will also feature Rockwool's proprietary electric melting technology designed to reduce the carbon footprint of the manufacturing processes. The company expects the factory to begin commercial production in 2028, with the hiring process scheduled to start this fall.
Made from volcanic rock, Rockwool's stone wool products offer fully recyclable and fire-resilient insulation solutions for buildings, industry and infrastructure.
