HRL Laboratories (Malibu, CA) introduced the AXI-R100 inertial measurement unit (IMU) for GPS-contested navigation. The AXI-R100 is designed for near navigation-grade accuracy in a palm-sized package and can be used in autonomous vehicles, aircraft, guided missiles and munition applications.

The AXI-R100 IMU provides a range-extending inertial current monitoring and positioning solution for defense, aerospace and automotive systems using a high-volume silicon micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology.

Features:

  • Incorporates advanced silicon MEMS gyroscopes
  • Leverages wafer-scale fabrication
  • Utilizes high-volume design methodologies and foundry fabrication compatibility to rapidly scale production to meet commercial automotive demands
  • Engineered and fully tested to withstand extreme vibration, severe shock and volatile thermal conditions
  • Design that is smaller and lighter than grade-equivalent conventional sensors
  • Suitable for missile guidance systems, drone navigation and autonomous driving architectures
