Kerry Group has officially opened a new coffee extraction facility in eastern Pennsylvania.

Operations at the campus in Hanover Township began late last year, but the company held an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 30, company and local economic development leaders announced last week.

The 48,600-square-foot facility, which formerly housed beverage manufacturer Martin Bauer Group, features independent hot and cold brew extraction lines and will be able to roast up to 22 million pounds annually. It is the Irish ingredient giant’s first location in Pennsylvania.

Kerry officials said that its “advanced extraction and concentration technologies” would be able to provide solutions for each of its customer’s formulations across products from ready-to-drink coffees to alcoholic beverages, sauces or ice cream. It would also bolster the company’s overall coffee extraction abilities, as well as its position along the East Coast.

“This place is designed to be a platform for innovation: a place where customer ambition, consumer insight and technical capability converge,” Will Kelly, head of beverage flavors at Kerry North America, said in a statement.

The project received nearly $517,000 in state funding, officials said. The facility currently has a workforce of 52.
