Honeywell spin-off Solstice Advanced Materials US, Inc. is expanding in Buffalo. Solstice makes high-performance specialty materials, and plans to invest $49 million to construct, renovate and equip its local R&D facility.

The funds will establish the Buffalo site as Solstice’s global R&D hub and create 12 new jobs. The company currently employs 180 people in Buffalo. New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced the investment last Friday.

Formed in October 2025 as a spin-off of Honeywell Technologies’ specialty materials business, Solstice focuses on next-generation, environmentally friendly specialty materials for the refrigeration, foam insulation, aerosols, energy storage and semiconductor manufacturing industries.

Empire State Development is providing up to $1.4 million through the performance-based Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit Program.

Solstice develops solutions that enable critical industries and applications, including data center cooling, nuclear power, protective fibers and healthcare packaging.
