Shrieve Chemical Company has acquired a suburban Chicago manufacturer of bio-based solvents, company officials said Thursday.
The deal is the chemicals distributor’s second acquisition announced this week.
Shrieve officials called Vertec BioSolvents a “pioneer” in bio-based solvents that perform “as well or better” than conventional, petroleum-based ones, and said that the addition would bolster its lineup of specialty products.
Vertec serves the industrial and institutional markets as well as coatings, inks, agriculture, food, home and consumer brands customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“This acquisition strengthens our ability to support customers as demand continues to shift toward more environmentally responsible solutions, and we’re excited to build on Vertec’s strong technical foundation,” Shrieve CEO Joey Gullion said in a statement.
The Vertec announcement came two days after Shrieve announced its acquisition of U.K. distributor FIS Chemicals.
