The owner of pickle brand Grillo's on Thursday announced plans to establish a new production facility in southern Indiana.

Irresistible Foods Group β€” which also owns the King's Hawaiian and Killer Brownie brands β€” said that Grillo’s has officially broken ground on the new 155,000-square-foot plant near Columbus, Indiana.

The facility, located next to a previously announced King’s Hawaiian bakery, would help meet β€œgrowing national demand” for the company’s pickles, officials said. It is expected to create 150 jobs.

"For our new production site, it was important to us to find a central U.S. location with a skilled workforce and supportive business environment, and we are very excited to be in Bartholomew County, Indiana,” Grillo’s President and CEO Adam Kaufman said in a statement.

The company is slated to receive $1.4 million in state tax incentives to support the project, along with $1 million in state funding for local infrastructure improvements and more than $3.7 million from local government sources.
