Amazon has announced plans for $12 billion in capital spending in central Mississippi, including an $11 billion expansion of its current data center operations and a $1 billion overhaul of a long-closed auto supply factory.

The e-commerce giant said that the larger expansion, located at its campus in Madison County, would create 700 new jobs, while the smaller project, which will retrofit a former Delphi Corp. facility in Clinton, Mississippi, would create another 100. The company did not provide details about what kind of jobs would be created.

Amazon initially announced the Madison County operations — a $10 billion project — in late 2024. The company also outlined a $3 billion project in Vicksburg late last year.

The announcement from the Mississippi Development authority said that state and local officials would provide undisclosed support for the projects.

David Zapolsky, Amazon’s chief global affairs and legal officer, said that the projects would “build infrastructure that serves Mississippi for generations.”
