Lockheed Martin signed an incentive agreement with the state of Alabama to support its production facility in Pike County.
The agreement includes an investment by Lockheed Martin of more than $150 million for the next five years, and it's expected to create new jobs at the facility. It currently sits on approximately 3,800 acres and employs more than 800 workers.
Lockheed Martin Pike County Operations has grown since its opening in 1994. The facility manufactures and supports hardware for weapon and missile systems, including the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) weapon system, Javelin missile, HELLFIRE missile, JASSM and Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM).
Alabama Industrial Development Training, Alabama’s workforce development agency, has been assisting Lockheed Martin’s Pike County Operation for over 30 years and opened a $2 million, 7,000-square-foot Advanced Training Center on its campus in 2017.
In 2019, Lockheed Martin launched a program to train local high school students for career opportunities with a hands-on curriculum in the classroom. Today, this program is now active in three local school systems.
