Walter (Greer, SC) expands the Xtra∙tec XT M5130 shoulder milling cutter product line with the addition of larger diameter cutters designed for small depths of cut. These additions include tool bodies with diameters of 80, 100 and 125 mm, for use with indexable insert BC…09… and diameters of 100, 125, and 160 mm for use with indexable insert BC…12….
The Xtra∙tec XT M5130 shoulder mill has a stable insert cross-section and reinforced insert pocket. Three pitches are available for different applications; the approach angle is precisely 90° and the diameter range is from 10 mm to 160 mm. The interfaces are ScrewFit, cylindrical-modular, Weldon, parallel shank and shell mill adaption.
Also available are indexable inserts for material-specific applications: brazed PCD inserts (one cutting edge) and WaveCut inserts for machining super alloys (ISO S material group).
The tools provide universal application for cutting steel, cast iron, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals and hardened materials (ISO P, K, M, N and H material groups). The cutter is suitable for face milling, shoulder milling, ramping, pocket milling and circular interpolation.
The oversize milling cutter is suitable for machining operations on deep shoulders. Areas of application include the general mechanical engineering, aerospace, medical, electronics and precision mechanical industries.
