BAE Systems yesterday announced the acquisition of Kirintec, a UK cyber and electromagnetic activities (CEMA) company that specializes in technology that counters improvised explosive devices (IEDs), uncrewed air systems (UAS) and other electronic warfare products.
Founded in 2008, Kirintec's technology protects military platforms and personnel from cyber and electromagnetic attacks. Its open architecture allows it to work together across a range of military platforms. The acquisition will help BAE meet growing demand for these capabilities.

Andrea Thompson, Group Managing Director of BAE's Digital Intelligence business, says warfare is changing, and the company's military customers are increasingly using offensive and defensive cyber and electronic warfare capabilities.
Kirintec will form part of BAE's Digital Intelligence business, offering new electronic warfare and force protection products.
Kirintec has approximately 50 employees who will continue to operate from its site in Herefordshire. The company has an in-house engineering team that includes an ex-military contingent. BAE will help the new business unit increase product development investment to bring new products to customers across the UK and allied nations.
