A 16-year-old was killed New Year’s Day after slabs of granite apparently fell on top of him.
According to reports, the accident occurred at Galaxy Granite and Cabinets in Tampa, FL. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to calls of a “person down” at the business around 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1.
When first responders arrived, they discovered a 16-year-old male was underneath “multiple pieces of granite” that appeared to have fallen on top of him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No foul-play is suspected and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the work-related incident.
