Fuchs Lubricants Co. has officially opened a new R&D and technical support hub for its operations in the Americas, company officials announced Wednesday.

The German lubricants supplier said that the 55,000-square-foot Americas Technology Center in Taunton, Massachusetts, would focus on advanced lubrication and tribology solutions across the region.

“Our customers are under constant pressure to improve performance, increase efficiency and stay ahead of change,” Fuchs Lubricants Co. President and CEO Megan O’Meara said in a statement. “This technology center allows us to work more closely with them, apply our expertise to their unique challenges, and help them develop solutions that drive results.”

Fuchs officials said that the facility would bring tribology labs, development teams and technical specialists under one roof, allowing the company to optimize lubricant interactions in real-world operating conditions. It would also connect local experts with “a worldwide community of scientists, engineers and customer-facing teams.”

The company said that the formulation, validation and performance-testing work at the Taunton facility would support demanding applications across the industrial, metalworking, automotive, medical and other critical sectors.

Fuchs hosted an inaugural Lubrication Technology Conference to coincide with the hub’s grant opening. The event, officials said, featured technology innovators, industry leaders and researchers that are “shaping the future of lubrication and industrial performance.”
