Rockwell Automation on Tuesday announced plans for a new manufacturing facility in its native southeastern Wisconsin that could ultimately end up as the company’s largest worldwide.
The Milwaukee industrial automation company said that the hub would include more than 1 million square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space. It would feature robotics, digital systems and other advanced automation technologies, and have the flexibility to scale its operations.
Officials said that it “has the potential to be Rockwell’s largest manufacturing campus globally.”
“Designing a new facility presents the opportunity to create the future of industrial operations with highly orchestrated production,” Rockwell Chairman and CEO Blake Moret said in a statement. “We are expanding our U.S. manufacturing footprint with advanced production capability that supports growth and performance with the latest Rockwell technologies and solutions.”
The announcement is part of a previously disclosed initiative to spend $2 billion on Rockwell’s facilities, workforce and digital capabilities over the next five years. The company said that construction and site planning are “in progress” in cooperation with state and local officials; a specific location for the facility was not announced, and the company said additional details “will be shared as the project advances.”
