Cooper Crouse-Hinds (Syracuse, NY) has developed a photovoltaic module kit equipped with a battery backup in addition to solar power kits. The solar power modules increase productivity in remote areas by eliminating the labor and materials required to run power to remote locations, or frequently change batteries. The modules are sold as prewired kitted components, which allows for quick installation by any qualified electrician. The kit is desgned to withstand harsh weather conditions, including rain, dust, or ice, and typical applications include obstruction lighting, instrumentation, cathodic protection, navigational aids, seismic monitoring, among others. The modules are third party certified for Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D, and have a recommended temperature range of -30 to 50°C.
