Loctite 2047 is a new high lubricity threadlocker from Henkel Corportation (Rocky Hill, CT), and has been designed to ensure maximum performance on fasteners greater than 7/8” in diameter. 2047 works both as a lubricant that reduces friction, and as an adhesive/sealant that eliminates loosening, maintains clamp load, and prevents corrosion. The new Loctite cures slowly, achieving fixture strength after 90 minutes and full cure after 40 hours. On fastener assemblies where torque than 500 ft/lbs. generates heat, this slow cure prevents premature threadlocker cure, which ensures reliable clamp load.
