NKE Austria (Steyr, Austria) now offers electrically-insulated roller bearings, the SQ77, provide reliable protection against current discharge and the resulting electrical corrosion. According to the company, these bearings are ideal for electric motors, generators, and electrical machines. In addition, the SQ77E bearings have an insulation layer on the inner ring, while the SQ77B uses ceramic rolling elements with theoretically infinite insulation resistance. The ceramic insulation is applied through plasma-spraying and has a guaranteed dielectric strength of at least 1,000 V AC or DC.
