The AlumiSeal brush-on methacrylate compound, from IMPCO Inc. (East Providence, RI), is formulated for sealing porosity in aluminum parts and welds that will contain liquids or gases under pressure. The low dynamic viscosity enables it to wick deeply into pores and between close-fitting non-ferrous metal surfaces. Other features include:
- A pressure-tight seal that withstands continuous service temperatures of up to 356°F and pressures up to 150°F.
- A typical hardness of 78 Shore D, and resistance to a broad range of chemicals, including oils, glycol, acids, and water.
- No alteration of critical surface dimensions.
