Laser Tools Co., Inc. (Little Rock, AR) has developed a new laser system called the SEA BEAM that assists in size measurements at a distance, and water proof to 600 feet. The SEA BEAM shoots two collimated laser beams 75 millimeters apart that the ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) views by camera. The laser dots or lines are measured using video capture techniques and the range and size of the target is analyzed. The SEA BEAM is only 2.5 inches long and 4 inches wide, mounts directly to the ROV, and weights only 145 grams. The power consumption is less than a ½ watt.
