Taste Test: Mac & Cheese Ice Cream

Reviews were mixed.

Editor's Note: Watch the entire Taste Test in the video below.

Kraft Macaroni & Cheese combines ice cream and macaroni & cheese.

The limited-edition snack is the result of a partnership between Van Leeuwen Ice Cream and Kraft.

Van Leeuwen churned the cheese into its ice cream to produce the amalgam.

The yellow, cheesy, gluten-free ice cream was made available online at Van Leeuwen’s website or at its stores while supplies last.

A pint costs $12 and was made available to the public at 11 a.m. ET on July 14.

Industrial Media reached out to acquire a sample and, in return, received two pints of the new product.

Several members of the team taste-tested the frozen snack, and it was met with mixed reviews.

The main critique was the conflict caused by the macaroni & cheese taste, which is typically served warm, being in a frozen state.

It apparently piqued enough people’s interest, because the ice cream is already sold out on the Van Leeuwen website.

Van Leeuwen operates 23 shops in New York City, Houston and Los Angeles.

“We wanted to combine two iconic comfort foods to create an ice cream,” Senior Associate Brand Manager for Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Emily Violett said.
