Volkswagen has stopped production at its assembly plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after it experienced a fire on Tuesday, according to Reuters.
Approximately 3,800 people work at the plant, which builds the Passat sedan and the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport SUVs.
The Chattanooga Fire Department tweeted at 9:37 a.m. that the fire was under control in the body shop at the plant.
The fire department said six workers were treated on the scene for minor smoke inhalation.
The fire’s cause is under investigation.
The plant is scheduled to resume production on Wednesday.
A Volkswagen spokesperson did not say how much was lost as a result of the shutdown.
