FLIR Systems Acquired in $8B Deal

The companies’ products are considered "uniquely complementary with minimal overlap."

The industrial conglomerate Teledyne Technologies has announced it will acquire FLIR Systems in an $8 billion cash and stock deal.

FLIR sells cameras and thermal imaging equipment, and Teledyne is likewise known for its imaging and sensor systems.

Teledyne called the two companies’ products "uniquely complementary with minimal overlap."

FLIR Systems has always been well-known in the industrial and commercial sectors, but has gained some notoriety in the consumer sector as well.

The paranormal investigators on the popular A&E series Ghost Hunters used FLIR cameras to detect thermal images and residuals.

FLIR still offers tips for ghost hunters on its website.
