Golden Boy Invests $13M to Double Down on Nut Butter Operations in Alabama

The investment will create 67 full-time jobs.

The nut butter specialists at Golden Boy Foods have announced a $25.8 million expansion in Troy, Alabama.

The investment will increase peanut butter manufacturing and create 67 full-time jobs.

Golden Boy will spend $13.3 million to install new equipment and Troy’s Industrial Development Board will contribute $12.5 million to purchase land and build the facility.

Golden Boy will also use the funds to upgrade its existing facility and lease the new 170,000-square-foot building being built by the city.

The upgrades will offer employees amenities such as air-conditioned workspaces.

The growth will essentially double Golden Boy’s industrial footprint in Pike County, and make it one of the largest nut butter plants in the U.S.

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey said, “Southeast Alabama is peanut country, and I welcome Golden Boy Foods’ decision to expand its peanut butter manufacturing operation in Troy."

Operations in the new facility are scheduled to begin in spring 2021.

The company previously expanded in Troy in 2016 and now has 112 employees. It also manufactures private label nuts, fruits and trail mixes.

Golden Boy also considered sites in Georgia and Nevada.
