Peloton Recalls Bike Pedals for Laceration Risk

These pedals are doing more to people's legs than just sculpting them.

A voluntary recall has been issued by the makers of a pricey exercise bike that’s injured users.

Peloton announced that 27,000 of its PR70P clip-in pedals can be replaced at no cost to the user due to a “laceration hazard.”

120 customers have complained, 16 of whom have reported leg injuries.

The axle on the pedals can reportedly snap while in use, “which may result in injury."

Some customer lacerations have been severe to the point where they’ve needed medical care, including stitches.

Users with these pedals are being instructed to stop using their bikes and discard the pedals immediately.

Peloton stationary bikes start at $1,895 and the company recommends users replace their pedals annually.
