Closure of Master Lock Milwaukee Factory to Affect 330 Jobs

The company will begin outsourcing jobs this fall.

Security product maker Master Lock announced it would close its Milwaukee manufacturing plant.

WISN-TV reported that the facility would close in March 2024.

A representative of Wisconsin unions said in a statement that the closure would affect 330 jobs.

According to the statement, Master Lock will begin outsourcing jobs this fall.

Master Lock will also transition its Milwaukee manufacturing to other North American and global operations.

The company said it would help its displaced employees by working with UAW Local 469.

The closure comes 11 years after former President Barack Obama visited the facility to celebrate the company reshoring 100 jobs from China.

The Wisconsin-based company was founded in 1921 and, at one point, employed 1,300 workers at the Milwaukee factory.
