Abandoned Tinsel Factory Found Stocked with Holiday Decorations

Last year the abandoned plant was sold to a real estate developer, sight unseen.

National Tinsel Manufacturing Company was once the world’s largest producer of holiday tinsel.

The business, established in 1888, was one of the earliest makers of Christmas toys and decorations in the country.

For 100 years the company, most recently called “Santa’s Best,” had a 90,000 square foot factory in Manitowoc, WI before it shuttered.

Last year the abandoned plant was sold to a real estate developer, sight unseen.

When developers toured the building they were surprised to find the facility packed with inventory they value in the millions of dollars.

The plant reportedly contains thousands of Christmas trees, wreaths, lights and other assorted holiday decor.

Owner Pete Burback has organized a liquidation where the ornamentation will be sold at 50% off retail price until it’s gone.

And even if you don’t want to buy, Burback urges visitors to see the “winter wonderland” for a one-of-a-kind experience.
