Worker Dies After Fall At Cargill Plant

Authorities in central Illinois are working to determine what led to the death of a 48-year-old Heyworth man after a fall last week at a Cargill Inc. soybean-processing plant. Cargill spokesman Mark Klein says Burleson was in the elevator area where the soybeans are stored and apparently fell onto a lower level.

GM, Isuzu Recall 258,000 SUVs To Fix Windows

General Motors and Isuzu are recalling more than 258,000 SUVs in the U.S. and Canada to fix short-circuits in power-window and door-lock switches that can cause fires. The recall covers Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 97-X SUVs from the 2006 and 2007 model years.

Fire Risk Forces Fisker Recall

Electric-car maker Fisker Automotive is recalling about 2,400 Karma sports sedans to fix cooling fans that can catch fire. The recall comes after Fisker and a private fire investigation firm finished probing an Aug. 10 fire in a Karma in Woodside, Calif.

Feds Checking Nissan Versa Air Bag Problem

U.S. safety regulators are investigating the Nissan Versa subcompact car because an air bag may fail to inflate in crashes. The probe affects about 100,000 Versas from the 2012 model year. A cable can get pinched in the steering column and cause the problem, says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The pinched cable will set off a warning light on the dashboard.
