This innovation, combined with a double-fluted design that yields more balanced cutting, makes new IDEAL-brand step drill bits perfect for producing exact, repetitive holes through brass, plastic, carbon steel, cast iron, stainless steel, and wood. In addition, the new bits have a self-starting point that eliminates starter holes or punches, even on curved surfaces. The bits are ruggedly constructed of hardened steel, protected by a unique titanium nitride coating.
