Pres-On (Addison, IL) has developed a cost-effective alternative to silicone foam with N3000, a lightweight, closed cell, cross linked form based on Nylon 6. The form is offered in 39” x 78” sheets, with thicknesses ranging from 1/16 to 1/2”. According to the company, N3000 can be fabricated into complex shapes for a variety of products, like industrial seals, gaskets, or thermal insulation. The form can also be exposed to temperatures up to 410° and undergo almost no shrinkage (>5 percent).
