The Industrial Sauna
Kadant Johnson Inc. (Three Rivers, MI) has developed a new line of direct steam injection water heaters, which are used to rapidly and accurately heat water and water-based slurries by injecting steam directly into the fluid. Applications include boiler preheating, sanitation and tank cleaning, among others. According to the company, direct steam injection heaters can save 20 to 30 percent in energy costs over an indirect heat exchanger. The heaters are available in sizes ranging from 1.5” to 6”, and all are custom-engineered to ensure optimal efficiency. With the exception of the actuator and modulating spindle, the heater has no moving parts.
