Castell’s (Erlanger, KY) portfolio of trapped key interlocks and loading dock guarding systems has been added to Tapeswitch’s product lineup, now available in the U.S. The interlocks ensure personnel follow a predetermined sequence of tasks to control process risks by locking valves, actuators, switches, doors, or entire processes until the correct key is used. By utilizing trapped key systems, a process can only be unlocked when the previous one is completed. In addition, the interlocks help prevent dangerous situations by forcing employees to wait until a machine finishes its cycle — a manufacturing robot, for example — before entering its vicinity or performing maintenance.
In addition, Castell’s Salvo system prevents trucks from driving away during loading or unloading. The gladhand lock attaches to a trailer’s brake line, releasing a uniquely-coded key. The control panel responsible for the gladhand lock will not disengage until loading or unloading has been completed.
