Why Is Glass Transparent?
Why is glass transparent?
Seems like a dumb question, right? Perhaps, but I would wager that most people don't know the real reason. Thankfully, Sixty Symbols regular Professor Phil Moriarty is here to save us from our ignorance with an explanation that involves photons, electrons, and a little something known as the "electron gap."
Editor's note: We understand the description in the IMPO Insider said transparency involves protons, while it actually involves photons. We apologize for the error, and we realize the irony in making this small mistake while trying to enlighten our readers. Obviously, the concept is new to us as well.
