Temple Officials To Consider Plant Demolition
TEMPLE, Ga. (AP) — Authorities in Temple say they are hoping to rebuild an old factory into a municipal complex in about a year.
Mayor Rick Ford tells The Times-Georgian (http://bit.ly/UtjZY5 ) that the City Council will discuss the issue Monday and potentially approve a bid for the work.
The town plans on demolishing the old Sewell Manufacturing Plant.
The 27,000-square-foot building was completed in the 1950s and was once a major employer. The city purchased the property in 2007.
Officials have proposed spending $1.5 million to turn the site into a new government building.
