Intersystems, which makes equipment for grain elevators, processing plants and port facilities, announced its plans on Tuesday. Its products help sort grains, powders, rock and wood chips.
ROME, Ga. (AP) — Authorities say at least one person was burned in an explosion at a northwest Georgia manufacturing plant. Rome-Floyd County Fire Chief Gordon Henderson tells the Rome News-Tribune (http://bit.ly/nLyfN6) that one person was being treated for steam burns. He did not know the extent of the person's injuries.

BRYAN, Ohio (AP) — Ohio's Spangler Candy Co. is adding jobs and space to produce more candy canes sold under brand names such as Jelly Belly and Cinnabon. The company said in a statement Monday that it will spend $400,000 to upgrade and install two candy cane production lines at its plant in Bryan, the northwest Ohio community where Spangler is based.
RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) — The Department of Energy may not be able to complete the Hanford vitrification plant for the projected $12.2 billion, according to an internal DOE document. The $12.2 billion figure is at risk due to uncertainties in congressional funding for the project, increased cost growth outpacing savings and delays in resolving technical waste mixing issues, according to a briefing document by the Construction Project Review team.

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Gov. Bob McDonnell says Pfizer is selling its manufacturing plant in Henrico County to Fareva. McDonnell announced the deal Tuesday in a news release. He says Fareva plans to acquire and invest $42 million in the facility. McDonnell says the plant will continue to produce Pfizer consumer products under a manufacturing and supply agreement between the companies.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) — Harris Corp. said Monday that it has been awarded a $16 million follow-on contract by Lockheed Martin Corp. to supply more than 100 radio systems to the U.S. Army. The communications and information technology company said the contract brings the total value of contracts to Harris under the Army's Warfighter Information Network - Tactical program to more than $200 million since 2002.

A battalion chief says the man was crushed in an industrial press at ASI Technologies early Tuesday. NEW YORK (AP) — Boeing says it's planning to redesign the engine of its workhorse 737 airplane in an effort to quickly match growing competition from rival plane maker Airbus. JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A Milwaukee Tool clerk's paperwork error means the manufacturing plant in Jackson must pay Hinds County $1.4 million more in property taxes than it contends it owes. SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — ATK Aerospace Systems is opening a new facility to build commercial airframes and engines in Utah. The site is projected to create 800 jobs over the next 20 years in Davis County. ATK spokesman George Torres says the more than 600,000 square-foot facility in Clearfield will produce aircraft composite structures and already has more than $1 billion in contracts to fulfill.
MILAN (AP) — Fiat SpA, which controls Chrysler, has confirmed plans to invest euro500 million ($720 million) to build Maseratis in a plant near Turin. Fiat confirmed the investment in the plant, which formerly made Bertone cars, in a statement Friday after receiving guarantees that the government will pass a law favoring investments that are backed by unions.
