COLUMBIA, Miss. (AP) — St. James Lighting is expanding its operations in Columbia, Miss., to create 20 new jobs.

The announcement came Tuesday from the company and the governor's office.

Officials say the $225,000 investment will meet a growing demand for its products. The company currently has 23 employees.

The state will contribute $305,000 in federal community development money to renovate the building, owned by the city of Columbia. The city will contribute $40,000 for site work and renovations.

St. James Lighting manufactures handcrafted copper lighting fixtures and custom interior chandeliers and pendants.

It will relocate to the facility formerly occupied by Orleans Furniture to accommodate the increase in production.

The company began production in 2008.
