NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — An automotive component company with a plant in Dayton, Tenn., will add about 50 manufacturing jobs.

The announcement came Tuesday from officials of International Automotive Components and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty.

The company plans to upgrade its Rhea County plant in a $7.7 million investment in equipment.

IAC makes car parts such as door and trim systems, instrument panels, consoles and exterior components.

North American operations are based in Southfield, Mich., and IAC has more than 12,000 employees on the continent.

Hagerty said his department is committed to Gov. Bill Haslam's goal of making Tennessee the No. 1 Southeastern location for high quality jobs.
