NORTHVILLE, Mich. (AP) — Amerigon Inc., which makes climate-controlled seats and other products for the auto industry, said Wednesday that it's formally changing its name and trading symbol effective June 13.

The company, based in Northville, Mich., will begin doing business as Gentherm Inc. and change its stock ticker symbol to "THRM" from "ARGN," effective June 13.

The changes are being made to better reflect the company's new capabilities and broader global reach following its purchase of a majority stake in Germany's W.E.T. Automotive Systems AG, Amerigon said.

A special shareholder meeting will be held on Sept. 5 to approve an amendment to the company's articles of incorporation to reflect the name change, the company said.

Amerigon shares rose 31 cents, or 2.6 percent, to $12.27 in morning trading.
