SACO, Maine (AP) — Defense contractor General Dynamics has been awarded a $7.8 million contract for Gatling gun systems that will be produced at its Maine gun manufacturing plant.

General Dynamics says it's been awarded a contract modification from the Naval Air System Command to produce more than 20 of the lightweight six-barrel gun systems for Super Hornet fighter aircraft.

The program will be managed out of the General Dynamics Technology Center in Williston, Vt., with production work taking place at the company's plant in Saco.
