MESA, Ariz. (AP) — Boeing Co. is holding a celebration on Friday to mark the 30th anniversary of its Mesa plant.
The aerospace giant broke ground on the helicopter plant in 1982. The facility was designed to build Apache helicopters for the U.S. Army.
Boeing officials and Mesa Mayor Scott Smith plan to attend. The event will include the unveiling of a monument honoring Boeing employees who are military veterans.
The event is not open to the public.
A statement from the company says Boeing employs about 5,000 Arizonans.
