FINDLAY, Ohio (AP) — Workers at a northern Ohio tire factory who are locked out after voting down a new contract say they will meet with company negotiators.

Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. locked out about 1,000 workers Monday at its plant in Findlay, a day after union members voted down a tentative three-year agreement.

A union official says both sides have agreed to sit down and talk Tuesday afternoon.

Workers began picketing outside the plant Tuesday. They say they're upset over proposed pay cuts and increased health care costs.

Cooper has said it plans to bring in temporary workers to keep its Findlay plant operating. The company says it told the union that it needs a competitive and cost-effective agreement to avoid simultaneous work stoppages in Findlay and Texarkana, Ark.
