NC Aviation Firm Plans Expansion

WALLBURG, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina company that keeps commercial airliners flying plans to shift its manufacturing operations to a recently opened facility in Davidson County.

The News & Record of Greensboro reports ( ) that privately-owned TIMCO Aviation Services plans to start shifting jobs to its Wallburg facility shortly.

Kip Blakely, vice president of industry and government relations, says the company also plans to add 100 jobs before the end of the year, in addition to 300 new workers already hired this year.

Half the new jobs will go to the operation in Wallburg and half will go to the company's maintenance and repair business at Piedmont Triad International Airport.

The state has offered up to $2 million in sweeteners if the company meets employment and investment targets at the Davidson County plant.
