JR Automation Tech To Open New SC Facility
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — JR Automation Technologies plans to open a new facility in Pickens County, creating 54 high-paying jobs over five years.
The Holland, Mich.-based company said Tuesday it plans to invest more than $2 million in its engineering, sales and manufacturing plant in Pickens. It will be JR Automation's first facility outside Michigan.
Company officials say the move supports existing customers, while expanding the company's opportunities across the Southeast.
The company designs and produces automation equipment for automotive, pharmaceutical, food and other industries.
JR Automation plans to outsource about 30 percent of its work to local machine shops and metal fabricators.
The state is providing training money and job development credits, which the company can use after meeting hiring targets.
