Rolls-Royce Opens New Aerospace Plant In Va.
PRINCE GEORGE, Va. (AP) — Rolls-Royce is opening a new advanced manufacturing and research facility in Prince George County.
Gov. Bob McDonnell joined company executives, and local and state officials for the opening of the facility on Monday.
The aircraft engine maker said the 180,000 square-foot facility will manufacture one of the most critical engine components. Discs manufactured at the facility will be used in some of the company's newest civil aerospace engines.
Rolls-Royce first announced its plans to invest $100 million to build an aerospace manufacturing campus in Prince George in 2007.
The British company's North American headquarters is in Reston.
