Chrysler To Invest $20M In Toledo Machining Plant
April 26, 2013 5:02 pm | by Chrysler Group LLC | CommentsChrysler Group LLC announced today that it will invest $19.6 million in its Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg, Ohio, to increase capacity of the torque converter it’s machining for the nine-speed transmission. With this announcement, the Company’s total investments in its U.S. operations since June 2009 increase to over $5.2 billion.
Welder Apparently Electrocuted At AZ Plant

Authorities say the man was badly burned and fell 20 feet to the ground after he somehow touched live wires around 11:20 a.m. Thursday.
Caterpillar Laying Off About 60 At IL Plant

The Journal Star in Peoria reports that Caterpillar said Thursday that it will lay off workers at a foundry in Mapleton starting in early May. The town is just south of Peoria, where Caterpillar is based.
Tests Detail Pollutants At Former Ford-Owned Site

New Corvette To Start Around $52,000

Considering everything that GM put into the newest Corvette, the $1,400 price increase over the current model seems pretty modest. The 2014 Corvette goes on sale this summer. The latest version was completely redone, and shares only two parts with the current model, which is nine years old.

MI Worker Killed At Nissan's TN Plant

The employee of Lake Orion, Mich.-based Complete Automation was killed Thursday in the factory's paint plant. Bob Light, a spokesman for Complete Automation, said the employee was killed when a large electrical panel fell while it was being moved.
S. Korea To Withdraw Workers At N. Korea Factory

Hostess To Reopen, Expand Emporia Plant

Japan To Allow Airlines To Resume 787 Flights

S. Korea Demands Talks With N. Korea On Closed Factory

GM CEO's 2012 Pay Package Up 44 Percent

Akerson earned $11.1 million in salary and stock awards last year, compared with $7.7 million in 2011. Outokumpu To Cut 2,500 Jobs
April 25, 2013 2:13 pm | by The Associated Press | CommentsFinnish metals group Outokumpu Oyj says it will slash 2,500 jobs worldwide in the next four years to cut costs by 350 million euros ($455 million) and improve profitability as stainless steel demand continues to fall. The world's leading stainless steel maker says about a third of the job cuts will be applied this year, mostly in Germany, Sweden and Finland, in line with production capacity reductions and streamlining.
