Wis. Gov. Signs Green Jobs Bill To Rake In Stimulus Cash

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Jim Doyle says a bill he signed into law will help the state increase access to federal bonds and create hundreds of jobs in Wisconsin.

Doyle signed the bill Friday at Energy Composites, a wind blade manufacturing plant in Wisconsin Rapids.

The bill allows cities and counties to tap into unused bonding authority given under the federal stimulus law. Doyle says the state Department of Commerce will administer the money to help companies like Energy Composites move forward with expansion projects that will create jobs.

The company plans to start building a new manufacturing plant next month that will create 600 jobs. Doyle says the new law will allow the company to request bonds from the state to help that move forward.
