DETROIT (AP) — General Motors Co. is cutting its production of pickup trucks next month, a sign that truck sales aren't as robust as the company had hoped. Spokesman Tom Wickham said Thursday that GM cancelled five scheduled overtime shifts on Saturdays in September and October.
LITCHVILLE, N.D. (AP) — A fire at a fertilizer plant in the southeastern North Dakota town of Litchville destroyed a building and about $300,000 worth of dry fertilizer. Fire Chief Darren Miedema tells The Jamestown Sun that no one was hurt in the fire early Tuesday. The cause of the blaze wasn't immediately determined, but Dakota Plains Cooperative President Ken Astrup says the fire might have been sparked by lightning.

NEW YORK (AP) — Delta Air Lines on Thursday confirmed its plan to buy 100 Boeing 737 jets as part of a fleet upgrade, with delivery set for 2013 to 2018. The order announced Thursday is valued at $8.5 billion at list prices, although airlines commonly get discounts. The newer planes offer perks for travelers including a roomier cabin, less engine noise and more room in overhead bins.
