Accenture To Acquire PCO Innovation

Accenture has today announced its intent to acquire PCO Innovation, a systems integration group that specializes in product lifecycle management (PLM) technology. Terms of the agreement were not immediately announced, nor were details as to how the companies will integrate services, facilities and labor forces.

U.S. Steel To Partially Shut Ontario Mill

United States Steel Corp said on Tuesday it will permanently shut down iron and steelmaking operations at its Hamilton, Ontario, mill at the end of this year.  The decision is a blow to Hamilton, long the center of Canada's steel industry, which has been hit hard by plant closures over the last decade.

Nestle USA says it's relocating its frozen pizza division from Illinois to the Cleveland suburb of Solon, joining its other businesses and an expanding research center there.  The world's largest food company expects about 250 jobs eventually to come from the move.

Siemens Energy Adds 40 Jobs In Central Mississippi

Siemens Energy, Inc. has added 40 new jobs at the central Mississippi plant where it makes high-voltage transmission equipment.  Employment is now about 400 at the plant in Richland, just south of Jackson.

 Glass maker Corning said Wednesday that its net income fell 23 percent in the third quarter on lower earnings from its joint venture with Samsung, which Corning is buying out.  The company gave a disappointing forecast for the fourth quarter, and shares slipped.

General Motors says third-quarter net income fell 53 percent compared with a year ago, as one-time expenses and losses in Europe offset strong performances elsewhere. The company earned $698 million in the quarter, or 45 cents per share. That compares with $1.48 billion, or 89 cents per share, a year ago.
