MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Alabama is benefiting from Kia's assembly plant on the Georgia state line. The Alabama Development Office released a statement Thursday saying Kia is responsible for more than 3,600 new jobs at automotive supplier plants located in Alabama. Those workers are employed at 34 different plants in Alabama, including 12 new suppliers that came after Kia announced the decision for its first U.

( NYSE:F ) plans to introduce seat belt-mounted air bags in the back seat of the 2011 Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle, which will hit the market next fall.
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — A solar panel company is moving some jobs overseas after receiving $58 million in state aid and being touted by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick as a symbol of the state's economic future. Evergreen Solar Inc. ( ESLR ) said Wednesday it is moving panel assembly jobs currently done at a plant in Devens to China next year.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The government says Toyota Motor Corp. is misleading consumers about an investigation into problems with stuck gas pedals that led to a massive Toyota recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Wednesday it was still investigating the case and meeting with Toyota to hear about the company's plan to redesign the vehicles and fix "this very dangerous problem.

Waste Management and Linde North America have teamed up to turn trash into fuel by refining the natural gas emitted by landfills. The gas is then purified and sent out to refueling stations across California, where it provides large vehicles with cleaner-burning fuels. OKMULGEE, Okla. (AP) — City officials in Okmulgee say a Florida-based waste recycling company will build a plant and bring about 1,400 jobs to the northeastern Oklahoma town. Mayor Brian Priegel says Destin-based Waste Not Technologies will build an 800,000 square-foot office and manufacturing park on a 250-acre site.

EAST LIBERTY, Ohio (AP) — Honda Motor Co. says it has begun mass production in Ohio of its new crossover utility vehicle. The automaker says the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour began rolling off the line Monday night at the company's factory in East Liberty. It's the largest vehicle ever produced at the plant, which also makes the Honda CR-V and Honda Element.
